We returned to Paros and Antiparos for 24 hours just before the imposed COVID-19 restrictions

Our scheduled activities in Paros for 7 & 8 November had to be postponed at the last minute due to the urgent COVID-19 measures, so we had to act fast since the local community was expecting us and our marine litter collection stations were full of fishing nets!

Four members of our team left for Paros and Antiparos, with the aim of returning the very next day, therefore within those 24 hours they had to perform all urgent tasks quickly and effectively. We changed the signage of the 3 marine litter stations in both islands, we cleared the stations from the fishing nets and delivered them to Watt of Paros. These nets will travel to Blue Cycle lab.

Although our time on the island was quite limited, we had to visit the Mayor of Paros and the municipal team to deliver important metrics over what has been achieved within a year. We also managed to meet with the President of the fishing association and discuss with local fishermen as well.

Our full visit plan, with the support of Stavros Niarchos Foundation, might have been postponed but a major part of our agenda was successfully fulfilled!

After that short yet fruitful visit to both islands, we had to leave for Athens with mixed feelings as we did not have the time to do everything initially planned. However, we are confident that we will be more than ready to organize a large scale event within the next months.
