4 ports, 1,5 day!

On the weekend of July 3 and 4, we visited Zakynthos to inaugurate our first station on the island and welcome our dear friends to the Blue Municipalities Network. We hope that the station will be the beginning and an example for the better management of the challenges that the Municipality of Zakynthos has to face since the marine environment on the island is really burdened.

At the same time, we are proud as a team that we managed in 1.5 days to complete, with total success, underwater cleanups in four different ports, to remove a large amount of chemicals and oils from the coast and to talk constructively and effectively with the local community. Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions, we could not proceed with the collection of ghost reef nets so we will return to the island soon.

We are also very lucky, once again, to work together and have the support of Natura Di zante! It was also a great joy to welcome our old volunteers, who, as soon as they set foot in Greece, (from Iraq and Guatemala) came to our mission! We are moving forward full speed, fulfilling our key goals!
