Kefalonia Marked the Beginning of our activities for 2021
A dynamic kick start of our activities for 2021 took place in Kefalonia, with our first ever visit to this beautiful green island of the Ionian Sea, which, thanks to the conscience of its inhabitants, maintains a relatively good level in its marine environment. The residents of Sami did their best to facilitate our stay and support the demanding actions we committed to carry out for the two days.
With the valuable guidance of the Municipality of Sami, and the support of Wild Nature Expeditions, Kefalonia Volunteers and Fiskardo Divers – Kosamare, we conducted exploratory dives in Fiskardo, Assos, Antisamos and Myrtos and performed underwater and coastal clean-ups, in the port of Sami, the fishing shelter and the two beaches nearby. In addition, we conducted our sampling research for analysis of bottom sediment and microplastics taken from sandy beaches and we took the pleasure to inform about our project and discuss with several representatives and residents in a highly constructive online consultation.
Thank you all for the excellent cooperation but also for the optimistic feeling that this dynamic kick-off gave us!
We would especially like to thank the following hotels: Alisandratou Vasiliki “Myrto”, Apostolatos George “Prince”, Daousis Themis “Poseidon”, Balla Antonia “Waterside”, Skiadaresi Fotini “Fotini”, as well as all the restaurants that provided a reduction to all the members of the mission: ΒnB, Choco Bi, Fior D’Amour, House Of Lords, Kefalonia, Nuovo, Alexandros, Giorgos, Dodoni (Agia Efimia), Dodoni (Fiskardo), Ektos, Elipsi Pelaton, Karma, Kokkoras, Manifiko, Marabou, Melina, Strofi and Christatos.
A dynamic start in Kefalonia!
