AEGEAN REBREATH MEANS AEGEAN SEABEDS BREATHING AGAIN
Cleaning – Upcycling – Educating
Our seas, so very precious and vital to our survival, are suffocating. More than 8 million tons of plastic end up to the sea every year. What is more impressive is that a 10% of marine litter consists of fishing nets left behind. Our beloved Mediterranean Sea is surrounded almost entirely by land which contributes to waste getting trapped in its waters and enhances the concentration of microplastics (5mm or smaller plastic waste, invisible to naked eye, that enter the food chain). Various scientific studies have proved that this problem is also quite prominent in the entire Aegean Sea.
Aegean Rebreath was founded with a primary goal to help Greek seas breathe again through the collection, recycling and upcycling of marine litter along with the adoption of a new culture by all of us on the severe waste management chapter.
Our main drive focuses on the principles of circular economy and our ally is all of you! Only through a continuous collective effort can we succeed in giving life back to the priceless richness of our seas.
Ranging from cleaning coastlines and seabeds to educational activities, our work is varied and multifaceted however the goal is unique: creating a community of people that shares our values and vision towards clean and healthy seas.
